Geocaching

Have you ever heard of geocaching? It's essentially real life treasure hunting! I first heard about it a few years ago when I watched the movie Splinter Heads on Netflix. I've been telling Andy about it for a while but he's never actually gone on a cache hunt with me. Last weekend when I came to visit we took a trip down Savery ave (the first divided highway, which happens to be quite literally next to where he lives) and I remember looking on the website and seeing that there were two caches on Savery! I pulled them up on the mobile app I have for geocaching and we found them both pretty easily.

When you find a cache, you get to take something from it as long as you put something in! We put in stickers that we had in my car and took these beautiful stones that were in it. I would have put something a little nicer, but I wasn't expecting to go caching that day. It's always good to keep some small, prize like items in your car/bag if you're a frequent geocacher!

I thought this was funny, on the first log we found someone put #TeamBieber.

These are the two things we put in the second cache, more random things from my car.

This is one of the coolest treasures I've gotten from a cache. It's a cache buddie, which when you find one you have to bring it to a new cache! Andy and I are planning a trip to Laconia this year so I think I'm going to save it until then to have it go to a new state.

Andy wrote our names on the birch tree where we found the second cache.

Have you ever been geocaching before? What was your coolest/hardest find?

xoxo Jackie

P.S. I'm working on remodeling my blog, but since I'm so busy with the end of this semester I'm doing it little by little. Bear with my while I try to make things pretty!

  2. I've heard of this, but never knew much about it until now. It seems super fun! I just checked online and found a bunch of stuff in my town too. Cool!

    1. They are usually EVERYWHERE. I have the app on my phone so every time I go somewhere new I usually look to see if there are any cache's nearby.

  3. I went hiking with a small group and we found a box hidden in a tree. Geocaching got really popular last year so I can imagine there's a bunch in my area to find! We didn't take anything but wrote our names down haha

  4. I've always been interested in this, y friends have done it before while the ret of us sat in a bar and drank. I like that it's a weird community that never really 'meets'
