Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! I may not celebrate it in the religious sense, but I sure do love coloring eggs, keeping traditions and of course, easter baskets! (It's not weird that my mom still makes me an easter basket at 19, right?)

It's a beautiful day out today and has been the past few days, thank goodness! The cold and snowy weather was really starting to get me down. I went to my boyfriends this weekend and then drove home for Easter Saturday night to spend it with my family.

Recipe later this week on the blog on how to make these Bunny breads!

Have a beautiful day!

Mail Time!

It is no secret that I LOVE receiving and sending mail. It's sad that it's such a dying art form, but I still try to keep up with snail mail as much as possible. Ever since I was younger, one of my older sisters (who didn't live in the same state as me) would write me letters and postcards, and it kind of stuck with me as I got older. She is the one who introduced me to Postcrossing, which is what I'm here to talk about!

Postcrossing is a website that allows you connect to people around the world in the form of postcards, as well as other different mail attributes! The way it works is after you create a profile, click on the "Send a Postcard" link in the left column, then it will ask if you agree to the terms and when you click through, it will give you the address and profile of another Postcrossing user for you to send a postcard to!

Teacup card received from Iowa, USA. Magical Moonlight card from Holland.

Most people will write in their profile a few sentences about themselves, and then a small list of what types of postcards they would prefer to get. When you get the address of the person you're going to send to, you also get a code that will look similar to "US-2457861"( I just made that number up, not a real code) and is generated according to what region you are in and then a number. You HAVE to write this code on the postcard you send, because once the person you are sending it to receives it they will enter the code on the website where it says "Register a Postcard", once they register it you are automatically put in as the next person to receive a card from someone! I've been a member for a LONG time now (technically over 5 years, but I was inactive for quite a while or would only send one postcard at a time) and the way they have it set up to send and receive cards words wonderfully.

Vintage German fashion magazine card from Germany. Fox print card from my sister!

This is a great program (and FREE) to be able to send some awesome postcards as well as receive them from all over the world. I try and not overwhelm myself with sending the max limit of cards you can send and generally stick to sending two at a time and wait for mail to come in to me before sending out more.

Cartoon Terveista Ankkalinnasta card from Finland. Toy Story storyboard card from Illinois, USA.

I am looking for people wanting to do direct swaps in the United States (since sending them within the country is cheaper then sending out of state) if anyone is interested!

xoxo Jackie

P.S. These are all my own opinions, this post was not sponsored by Postcrossing. I just love mail and wanted to share with you guys. :)

College Course Selection

I am almost at the completion of my Freshman year of University. This past year has FLOWN by and I can't believe there is only a month and a half left of this current spring semester. I have gained so many wonderful lessons, life experiences among other things since last September and I'm looking forward to the coming fall semester where I begin my second year in college.

Just a little peek at the college class selection process!

Though with the semester almost over, that means I have to pick my classes for next year already! Last week my roommate, some friends and I decided to move into a different location on campus together, living in the same suite with some girls we don't know. I'm really happy that the process went through and we got the place we wanted to live (despite the website to sign up crashing, internet being slow from everyone else choosing housing and worrying that we wouldn't get in where we wanted.

I plan on taking six classes next semester, yikes! Full time is four classes, most students (like myself) take five, but due to the fact I am double majoring I want to try and pack in an extra class for a couple semesters to make sure I can keep up on credits.

Are any of you in college right now? What are you majoring in and are you excited for the coming semester?

Allergies, Snow and A Wooden Tree.

For the past week I don't think I've been able to breathe out of my nose. I go to school in a place with completely different air than from where I normally live. I'm used to salty, low elevation air and at school I'm in a much higher elevation, with more (and different) kinds of trees and near mountains. I've NEVER had as many sinus problems in my entire life as I have since I've started college. I'm sure (and by sure I mean I better) they will pass soon and I can get back to normal breathing and not feeling like I'm constantly out of breath.

This is one of the buildings at my college, shortly after a snowstorm a few weeks ago.

We had a decent sized snow storm last night, resulting in the canceling of classes today. I have to admit it was much needed, because I did absolutely nothing productive today and was able to rest and watch some movies. That's all I really wanted to do since doing any sort of activity makes me feel asthmatic since you know, I can't breathe through my nose.

IN OTHER NEWS; you should all head over to Meredith's blog One Sheepish Girl and enter her giveaway she is having right now from one of her sponsors,  A Wooden Tree. I entered and am crossing my fingers! A Wooden Tree has so many adorable products, my eyes are especially caught on those cute fox brooches as well all of the Mr. Stag products.

Did any of you guys get snow? What's your favorite item in A Wooden Tree's shop?

March Wants - Spring Hike

Now that daylight savings has occurred, I'm so excited to get spring here! Despite losing an hour of sleep, these already longer days and snow starting to melt is really lifting my spirits. All I want to do is go exploring and on adventures with my camera in cute dresses. I'm looking forward to picnics, hikes, and special moments that will come with this coming spring. I'm ready!

Dress - Written in the Stars from Modcloth
Boots - Jeffrey Campbell's Route of the Matter from Modcloth
Scarf - Master of Multiplication from Modcloth
Canon 50mm Lens from Amazon

Anyone else super excited for the spring? This past winter was rough and that coming from me is a lot since I love the cold weather and snow. Bring on the tights and dresses!

WIWRN - #1

I watch a lot of movies, as well as TV shows but I never watch them on air. With TV series I have to be able to watch a few episodes at a time and get into it opposed to just watching one episode and going crazy for a week until the next one comes out. Over the past few weeks I've been catching up on a lot of shows I've been wanting to watch, as well as a few movies that I hadn't seen yet that I wanted to.

Once Upon A Time

For those of you who don't watch it, the show takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, in which the residents are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the "real world" town and robbed of their real memories by the Evil Queen, Regina (Lana Parrilla), using a powerful curse obtained from Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle). Their only hope is Emma Swan, who is sort of forced to come to the town when her son who she gave up for adoption when he was a baby shows up on her doorstep and convinces her to go there. The residents of Storybrooke have lived an unchanging existence for 28 years, unaware of their own lack of aging.

I started watching it with pretty low expectations from reviews I had heard from friends, but was glad I ended up watching it because I plowed through the first season on Netflix and am doing a free week trial of Hulu plus in order to watch/catch up on the second season. Recommended for anyone interested in ABC style fantasy.

I'll post about a horror movie I watched this past week in a few days. I actually liked it and it gave me faith in the future of the scary movie industry!

Demi Skavato

My friend Meaghan and I had been toying around with the idea and dream of starting a ska band soon after I found out she could play the saxophone. I don't quite remember how it came to be, but we decided we would be called Demi Skavato and all was well.
Several of our friends have radio shows at the local station at our college and this semester, Meaghan and I decided to have our own with the name of our dream band.

At the moment there isn't any online streaming, but we're working on it! If you're interested in listening and are in the area, tune into WXPL 91.3 on Tuesday's from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM and listen in to a mixture of ska/punk and indie/pop music!

This is my lovely co-host, Meaghan!

Thursday date!

My boyfriend lives about an hour and a half away from where I go to school. It sucks sometimes, but we deal with it and try and see each other at least every other week and spend the weekends, which we both have off, together. I drove down Wednesday night and didn't go to my two Thursday classes (I promise I didn't miss anything big!) and I was in some serious need of boyfriend time. We slept in on Thursday and then went out since he had the day off and ran some errands and got lunch.

Burritos are my favorite food ever. What about you?

After lunch we ended up driving around in search for a birthday gift for his niece, and made a pit stop at a cute little country store which had an adorable section with a vintage stove and refrigerator and gave me some serious house decorating fever.

Then we had to do some birthday shopping for a special nine year old who is obsessed with Monster High dolls. When I saw this Roller Derby themed one, we couldn't help but get it! What's not to love about a zombie doll who does roller derby?

Come on, how sweet is that!?

Hope everyones week has been swell! xoxo Jackie
